CNC.IP – FCS HOLDS WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS

Dili, October 7, 2024 (Média Democracia) – Centro Nacional Chega IP in collaboration with Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e through the Faculty of Social Sciences held a workshop with the theme, “Knowing history, we can avoid the same mistakes.” The workshop was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Caicoli, Dili.

In opening, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Alarico da Costa Ximenes, said that on behalf of the faculty, he expressed his gratitude to CNC IP for choosing the Faculty of Social Sciences to organize this very important activity because this is how to bring students to know more about the history of Timor-Leste.

“As Dean requests to students, especially finalist students, to take advantage of this course and also the material that will be delivered by the trainer, through this course you can increase your insight into the history of Timor-Leste and also bring you to know more about this history.” Said the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Alarico da Costa Ximenes

He continued, hoping that from this section students can make good use of the materials provided by the trainer and once again remain grateful to CNC IP and hope to continue to establish good cooperation in the future. The faculty is ready to cooperate with CNC IP at any time for the sake of students.

On the other hand, CNC IP’s Director of Education and Information, Alexandre Ornai Pinto said, today’s activity as part of what Chega and the Ambassador are organizing is to create these programs at CNC to offer more systematic programs to young people who are undergoing professional internships at Chega and they also help in the development of CNC programs that they can implement as is now being held in this workshop for students.

“Today’s event is very important because it shares the history that happened in the past and also explains the massacres that happened in the past. We hold events like this by showing films, showing photos, then reflecting on the film and discussing related to this event.” CNC.IP Education and Information Director Alexander Ornai Pinto said

He added that the hope of this activity is to help young people, especially students, to better understand the history of Timor-Leste from 1974-1999 because in the context of high schools, most are not taught about the history of Timor-Leste, therefore through activities like this, it can increase the insight of young people about the history of Timor-Leste.

For more details, this activity was held by the Centro Nacional Chega Ip and was attended by a maximum of 50 students from the Faculty of Social Sciences UNTL and also lecturers, in this activity providing training on the history of Timor-Leste from 1974-1999.
