Dili, 20 April 2026 (Media Democracia) – The National Institute to Combat HIV/AIDS (INCSIDA) conducted awareness on HIV/AIDS transmission for youth from the Democratic Party (PD), on how to prevent themselve from the disease.
According to the President of the National Institute to Combat HIV/AIDS, Daniel Marcal, he said that as a political party they must protect themselves from HIV/AIDS, because the youth will become the leaders of this country.
“As a political party, we must prepare ourselves to protect them, because they are leaders, and political figures, who will go on to participate in political positions. Their status is good, so they must have good health. If their health is not good, how can they learn and they will abandon the political parties and they will lose good leadership. Because HIV does not choose whether a person is a leader or not a leader.” said INCSIDA President Daniel Marcal at the INCSIDA Office 16/04/2026.
On the other hand, according to the Interim President of the Democratic Party (PD), Samuel Mendonça, he added that HIV/AIDS is a pandemic that all nations reject. Therefore we must sensitize ourselves in order to combat HIV/AIDS.
“The HIV/AIDS virus is like a pandemic that all nations reject, especially for our youth in political parties, so they can take care of themselves in order to prevent the HIV/AIDS virus, this virus is like a big war that we must anticipate and prevent, and I ask the youth to protect themselves so they don’t take part in free sex.” said Interim President of the Democratic Party (PD), Samuel Mendonca.
In addition, the Representative of the Democratic Party (PD) Youth, Paulo de Jesus, said he is proud because he was able to receive good information about how to combat the HIV/AIDS virus which is spreading rapidly in Timor-Leste.
”As Democratic Party (PD) youth, I am very proud that today we can receive truly good information to be able to combat HIV/AIDS which is spreading widely in our country. Because youth are agents of transformation in society, therefore we really need to know in-depth information. Good information can be transmitted to our society, so our community can receive positive information, and how we can prevent ourselves from HIV/AIDS, because this disease is very dangerous for Us.” said Democratic Party Youth Paulo de Jesus
The awareness training to combat HIV/AIDS for Democratic Party (PD) Youth is an important activity to increase young people’s knowledge and awareness about prevention, treatment, and ending stigma against people living with HIV/AIDS, how to prevent it, and the importance of blood testing and early treatment, with this awareness, it is hoped that Democratic Party youth can actively contribute to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
