Dili, September 17, 2026 (Media Democracia) — Regarding the suspected computer fraud case, the Immigration Service has received an order from the Dili Court of First Instance (TJPID) to control and ban a total of 132 foreign citizens who are suspected of involvement in these criminal cases from leaving the national territory of Timor-Leste.
Of the total 132 foreign citizens who received an order from the court, 75 citizens are from the People’s Republic of China, while 53 are from the Republic of Indonesia.
The Executive Director of the Immigration Service, Police Assistant Commissioner Jorge Monteiro, said the order was received from the Dili Court of First Instance to control the foreign citizens and ban them from leaving the national territory, because there are indications that they are suspected of committing serious crimes.
“Regarding the suspects who are suspected in the computer fraud case, the Immigration Service received an order from the Dili Court of First Instance. We received a court order to ban the foreign citizens from leaving the national territory of Timor-Leste. Foreign citizens from the People’s Republic of China total 75 and from the Republic of Indonesia total 53. The total orders issued by the court is 132,” Jorge Monteiro told journalists at the Ministry of Interior, Thursday (17/09).
He said the order gives authority to the Immigration Service to control and ban these foreign citizens from leaving the national territory, because they are still in a judicial process.
The Executive Director of the Immigration Service stressed, according to the order received from the Dili Court of First Instance, these foreign citizens will continue to be controlled and banned from leaving the national territory while the judicial process is ongoing.
