Dili, 19 May 2026 (Media Democracia) – The National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL), through the Dili Municipality PNTL Commander, Assistant Police Commissioner Orlando Gomes, appealed to the youth in the capital Dili to join hands to contribute to a stable security situation in the capital.
“My message to the public is that the day is approaching for us to commemorate the 24th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence on 20 May 2026. The Dili Municipality Command appeals to the youth, the potential youth, our resistance youth in the capital Dili, our leaders and local leaders, and all communities, for us all to contribute and join hands, support each other so that we can create a situation in the capital Dili that runs well and successfully.” said Assistant Police Commissioner Orlando Gomes to journalists at his office on Monday.
Thus, so that our Independence Restoration Day celebration runs well and successfully, because this day belongs to the people, therefore we all must contribute so that the security situation can run well.
The Dili Municipality PNTL Commander expressed hope that the youth in the capital Dili have the maturity to work together with the National Police of Timor-Leste and the FALINTIL – Timor-Leste Defence Force (F-FDTL) to guarantee a good security situation.
“The Dili Municipality Command believes that the youth in the capital Dili are now mature enough to work together with the police and F-FDTL and our partners such as the community police councils in the sucos, so that we can ensure our security situation is good, so that we can commemorate this year’s Independence Restoration Day well and successfully.” he concluded.
