Metinaro,, June 29, 2026 (Media Democracia) – Media Democracia Team observed that the state funeral ceremony for the late Francisco Guterres ‘Lú-Olo’ at the Metinaro Heroes Garden was held with high dignity and respect. Thousands of citizens, State leaders, government members, parliamentarians, diplomats, F-FDTL and PNTL members, FRETILIN militants, and communities from various places were present to pay their final tribute to the national leader who dedicated his life to the liberation struggle and the development of Timor-Leste. During the ceremony, the atmosphere was filled with sorrow and respect. Many people sat and stood quietly, accompanying the process until the late leader’s body was laid to rest at the Heroes Garden. Various national leaders also delivered messages about the legacy, contributions, and great service that the late leader left for the people and the State.
Media Democracia also observed that security measures were carried out well by F-FDTL and PNTL members, so the funeral procession proceeded peacefully and in an orderly manner, while the people continued to bid their final farewell to the late Francisco Guterres ‘Lú-Olo’, who will remain forever in Timor-Leste’s history as a liberation struggle veteran and former President of the Republic.
