The 63rd Joint Military Academy Candidates Continue to the Military Aptitude Phase

Dili, July 16, 2026 (Media Democracia) – President of the Recruitment Commission for Military Academy Student Candidates 2026, Nuno Manuel Corvelo, said that 63 Joint Military Academy student candidates have been admitted to the next phase, namely the military aptitude test, after passing the selection process in the first stage.

He said that during the recruitment process, the Commission has already carried out physical aptitude tests, health tests and psychometric tests. In these phases, some student candidates were not able to pass because they didn’t meet the required criteria.

Currently, the recruitment process has entered the military aptitude test phase, and 63 Joint Military Academy student candidates have been admitted to participate in this stage.

The results for the Military Academy, from the tests that were just concluded, especially the final test, show that there are 63 people who will be there. Many also failed the physical test, health test and oral exam. As for science, we only take those from the exact sciences, so that’s why many didn’t pass.” Nuno Corvelo told journalists at the Resistance Museum on Tuesday (14/07).

Nuno explained that the 63 admitted Joint Military Academy student candidates in the military aptitude phase will be deployed to the Joint Military Academy building in Aileu Municipality for 10 days to undergo the military aptitude evaluation process according to the schedule established by the recruitment commission.

He said that during the 10-day military aptitude test, the student candidates will adapt to nature and military life. If during the test any candidates don’t comply with the established military life regulations, the recruitment commission will eliminate them.

“If they pass this phase, then we will admit them to get to know the academy more deeply for a few more months and next year they will begin their studies.” Nuno Corvelo stated..
