Dili, 31 January 2026 (Média Democracia) – The Secretary of State for Cooperatves (SEcoop), trhough the Municipal Delegation Directorate, has identified Municipalities that have the potencial to produce salt, namely Bobonaro, Liquiça, and Manatuto.
According to the National Director of Municipal Delegation Rui Soares, the SEcoop team will conduct data collection to produce salt in Bobonaro, Liquiça, and Manatuto Municipalities, because these Municipalities have great potencial for salt production.
“We’ve done sensitization and now in the 2026 State Budget, we plan to allocate funds for second-phase salt production. In march this year, we’ll start sensitization and provide basic training too salt production teams on how to produce salt in these three (3) Municipalities.” Says the National Director of Municipal Delegation Rui Soares
He adds that the Government, through the Secretary of State for Cooperatves (SEcoop), in the 2026 state Budget, has two categories, such as Good and Services, and other for sensitization of communities to know what to do on the ground.
“The budget allocated for this salt production program, I don’t know yet, because each Directorate has its own work. I only know that the funds will be divided into two parts, such as sensitization and basic training. As for the amount, I don’t really know. Besides, our communities who want to establish groups, we need to sensitize them, so they can form into Cooperative groups to produce salt.” Adds the National Director of Municipal Delegation
He futher emphasizes that progess on salt production in ongoing, and they haven’t yet intregated basic training for groups to expand, because some communities also want to be involved in other groups.
