Dili, September 19, 2026 (Media Democracia) – New Candidate for Cadet of the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) for 2025, from the Municipality of Dili, Jeniva Gusmão Pinto, laments the service of the PNTL Recruitment Commission, because the original university diploma that she submitted to the previous commission is suspected to be lost.
“Before I faced problems with some documents, but at that time I immediately completed the documents. Now the main problem is the original diploma of Higher Education. At that time, the commission asked for the original documents and I myself handed them over. But now, when I entered the process of re-verification of documents, the original Higher Education diploma is not there. I asked and confronted them inside, but they said they could not find it and told me to confirm with the previous commission,” said Jeniva Gusmão Pinto to journalists at the Comoro Academy, Friday (18/09).
She explained that the original diploma and the legalized documents were all submitted to the Recruitment Commission for New Cadets PNTL 2025 at the time of complaint and verification of documents at the commission secretariat.
Jeniva asks the PNTL Recruitment Commission to provide clarification and seek a solution to this problem, because she affirms that all the documents that the commission needed, including the original diploma, she had already submitted.
Meanwhile, another candidate for New Cadet PNTL, Arsenio Barbara Malik, from Manufahi Municipality, is also not satisfied with the list of candidates that PNTL published, because he considers that this process can raise doubts about justice and transparency.
Arsenio considers that this situation creates confusion for the candidates, because in the earlier moment they received guidance from the commission to complete the documents that were not yet complete. The candidates followed that guidance, but in the newly released list of re-verification of documents, the names of some candidates are not included.
He asks the commission to provide clarification on the reason that makes some candidates not admitted to the document re-verification process, especially candidates who claim that they have completed the documents according to the commission’s guidance.
“This is what has become a big problem for us. We want to know why the documents that we have already completed, but our names are not included in the list,” said Arsenio.
Arsenio also explained that, in the earlier moment, some documents that were not yet complete they immediately completed, including original documents that needed legalization.
“The commission asked us to complete the documents. We did it and submitted the original documents that needed legalization. But in the end, our names are not in the list,” he said.
He considers that candidates who were previously on the list should be considered in the re-verification process, especially those who have completed the documents according to the guidance of the Recruitment Commission.
“The commission asked us to complete the documents, and we did. Therefore, we want to know the clear reason why our names are still not included in the re-verification list,” he said.
The PNTL Recruitment Commission previously informed that the re-verification process of candidate documents is carried out based on new regulations, and the published list will show the reason for candidates who are admitted and not admitted.
