Dili, September 9, 2026 (Media Democracia) – The Joint Military Academy (AMC) continues to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning for cadets through a systematic and integrated education program, especially in the subjects of Mathematics and Portuguese Language, as part of efforts to develop cadets’ knowledge, discipline, responsibility, and professional competence for their future in military service.
According to a statement that Média Democracia obtained from the official IDN page, in the 2026 School Year, AMC Cadets have begun academic classes in subjects considered important for the development of intellectual and professional capacity, namely Mathematics and Portuguese Language.
The Mathematics subject is taught by Lecturer Abrão Marques, while Portuguese Language is taught by Lecturer Abrão Neto Freitas.
Through this planned teaching process, Cadets have the opportunity to increase their knowledge, develop skills, and shape attitudes that are relevant to their academic life and professional future.
The Mathematics class plays an important role in developing Cadets’ capacity for logical thinking, calculation, analysis, and problem-solving.
Through this subject, Cadets not only learn mathematical concepts and formulas, but also learn to analyze problems using systematic methods, make comparisons, seek solutions, and draw conclusions based on reason and evidence.
These competencies are important not only in the academic environment, but also in military service.
In a professional setting, military personnel need the ability to analyze situations, make logical decisions, and respond to challenges in a responsible and efficient manner.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese Language class gives Cadets the opportunity to develop their abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and communicating in a clear and appropriate way.
This learning also helps Cadets understand linguistic structure, expand vocabulary, and develop the ability to organize and present ideas in a systematic way.
Competence in Portuguese is considered very important for Cadet training, because in both academic and professional environments they will encounter official documents, reports, regulations, instructions, literature, and academic materials that use the Portuguese language.
With good communication skills, Cadets can communicate effectively, write documents with good structure, and make presentations with confidence. This also supports them in developing leadership and professional interaction in the future.
The Mathematics and Portuguese classes are not limited to the transmission of theoretical knowledge, but also guide Cadets to apply what they have learned in practical situations.
This approach is important to link classroom learning with real needs in academic and professional environments.

With guidance from Lecturer Abrão Marques in Mathematics and Lecturer Abrão Neto Freitas in Portuguese Language, Cadets have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and develop the competencies needed for academic and professional life.
Through an education program like this, AMC hopes that Cadets will continue to develop into disciplined, responsible military professionals with critical thinking, leadership capacity, and communication skills, so that in the future they can contribute well to the institution, the nation, and the people of Timor-Leste.
The classes are being held at the Joint Military Academy School, Hundolte, Aileu, for one week, with guidance from the lecturers responsible for each subject.
