The Timor-Leste National Police, through the Director of the Criminal Investigation Service, Police Chief Superintendent João Belo dos Reis, informed that the DSIK has detained three suspects for counterfeit money at the Y&W store warehouse in Bidau Masaur.
“Last night we detained some people in relation to this case, and today we are trying to finalize all the processes before the afternoon so we can present them to the Court.” Chief Superintendent João Belo dos Reis told journalists during a press conference held at the PNTL General Command in Caicoli on Thursday (04/16/2026).
He said the Public Prosecutor’s Office authorized the detention of the four suspects.
“Everything we did was through coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.” J.B. Reis informed.
Commander João Belo dos Reis stated that for this counterfeit money case, the Public Prosecutor’s Office is pursuing charges of currency note forgery.
Meanwhile, the three citizens have the initials WYF, JT, and WY.
