Dili, 05 February 2025 (Média Democracia) – Mrs. Rosalina da Silva Pereira, 49 years old, from Ainaro Municipality, currently living in Dili Municipality, Dom Aleixo Administrative Post, Manleuana Village, born as a Trader, every day does small business activities on the sidewalk to respond to family needs.
Trader Rosalina da Silva Pereira says, for many years she has lived as a trader doing small business activities, thus earning some money to support daily needs including sending her children to education.
“I am a trader, every day I have to go buy vegetables from Taibesi market, then bring them to sell in Manleuana. Vegetables that I buy in Taibesi market, I usually take $30 or $35, like white and black mustard, spinach, tomato, beans, cabbage, Onion, Garlic and others. I think these vegetables are easy for people to buy quickly.” ays Rosalina da Silva Pereira
She added, vegetables that she sells daily can reach $30 to $40, but it depends on the situation and daily conditions, because there are many people selling vegetables or doing small businesses along the roadside. So, even though many people are doing small businesses on the roadside, they still try hard to find various ways to sell, so they can earn money to support basic needs and help their children access education.
“I have two children, one boy and one girl. My son is already married, and my daughter is still pursuing her studies at university level. Now, I have to find money through various ways, because my husband is old and doesn’t have the strength to work to support the family’s needs and see our children’s education.” Says Rosalina da Silva Pereira
She affirms, although finding money always presents various challenges, necessity forces her to try hard to create some small business to earn money to respond to family needs and see her children’s education, because just sitting at home won’t earn money.
To explain further, Mrs. Rosalina has become the head of the family, because her husband is old and doesn’t have the strength to work to earn money. So, she has to try hard through various ways, like creating small businesses selling vegetables, so she can earn money to support household needs, including supporting her children’s education process.
