Dili, 30 May 2026 (Media Democracia) – Director of the Criminal Investigation Service Directorate, Chief Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis informed that the homicide case that happened in Bidau around 2:00 AM OTL, is suspected to be due to a land dispute which resulted in a citizen with the initials Constâncio Saldanha Bere, age 19, losing his life.
“Just to share some information related to a murder case in the Bidau area, this morning at 2 AM, the Forensic team received contact from residents in that area, saying a murder case occurred, suspected because of land.” said Police Chief Superintendent João Belo dos Reis, the spokesperson, to journalists at PNTL General Headquarters Caicoli this Friday.
He explained that after receiving contact from the community there, the team immediately went to the scene.
“So the team went straight to the place and found a citizen with the initials C.S.B. dead at the scene, age 19. The body was evacuated to the mortuary to wait for the Autopsy process.” He stated.
He said that currently the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) is making efforts to track down the Suspect who took Constâncio Saldanha Bere’s life.
“The suspect we are still tracking, hopefully we can capture him soon. According to the information the forensic team, together with doctors at Guido Valadares National Hospital are waiting for the autopsy order from the Court for the autopsy process.” He said.
João Belo added he received information that in this incident the victim was struck by the suspect on the head.
“There are strike wounds on the victim’s head, and I just got the information. At around 9:00 AM OTL, if the data is complete I will update you. I can’t say yet what happened there because the identification process is still ongoing.” Belo continued.
He added that right now the suspect is being tracked and we hope he can be captured soon. Meanwhile this case itself is registered with Unique Crime Number (NUK): 0164/26.DIBCR.
The Chief Police Superintendent said the Forensic team, together with doctors at HNGV are waiting for the autopsy order from the Court to proceed with the autopsy and the body is being kept in the Mortuary to undergo the autopsy process to determine the cause and manner of death.
Meanwhile this case resulted in the victim Constâncio Saldanha Bere losing his life and this homicide case happened in the Bidau Kuluhun area, Toko Baru 2 Hamlet, Kuluhun Village, Cristo Rei Administrative Post, Dili Municipality.
